HealthNet Eritrea is located at the Ministry of Health in Asmara. Local staff manage the system and provide end user support. E-mail and all SATELLIFE Information Services are provided free of charge. The network is comprised of approximately 30 computers, with three individuals sharing each point, for a total of 90 users. Physicians, medical officers, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, health administrators, nurses and other health workers receive SATELLIFE's publications, participate in discussion groups and access information. As an example, Embaye Andom, a drug pharmacist at the Ministry of Health, communicates with pharmacists around the world and compiles information on essential drugs through SATELLIFE's E-drug discussion group. The information he gathers through HealthNet's simple e-mail connection is used to formulate policies on the use of essential drugs in his country.
