This is an ongoing effort to assess disease control priorities and produce evidence-based analysis and resource materials to inform health policymaking in developing countries. DCPP has produced three volumes providing technical resources that can assist developing countries in improving their health systems. Launched in May 2007, the WHO and Joint Commission International have developed a site titled "Nine patient safety solutions". The goal of this endeavor is to help reduce the toll of health care-related harm affecting millions of patients worldwide. The topics range from look-alike medication names to control of electrolyte solutions, avoiding catheter and tubing misconnections and single use injection devices. RHINO promotes high quality and practical approaches to the collection and use of routine health information in developing countries. 'Routine health information' includes data such as patient records, epidemiological surveillance data, and vital statistics such as mortality rates. RHINO provides workshops, on-line forums, a web based bibliography, full text documents and the RHINO Listserv. The project's participants include developing country governments, donor agencies and technical groups.
