Widely regarded as the gold standard of consumer health information, MedlinePlus offers links to accurate and current medical information that has been evaluated by the National Library of Medicine (U.S.) on more than 750 health topics. It includes drug information, an illustrated medical dictionary, the latest health news, surgery videos, and interactive health tutorials. The site has been translated into Spanish with links to Spanish-language information on the Internet. All the pages are printer-friendly. MedlinePlus Interactive Health Tutorials
MedlinePlus licenses interactive health education resources from the Patient Education Institute. These tutorials use animated graphics to explain over 165 procedures or conditions in easy-to-read language. The tutorials are useful for non-English speakers, those with vision disorders, or those for whom literacy is a concern. Many tutorials are available in Spanish as well as English. NOTE: These tutorials require a special Flash plug-in, version 6 or above. NLM Gateway is a Web-based system that lets users search simultaneously in multiple retrieval systems at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM).
