that provides connectivity and health information for health
professionals in the developing world. The organization
merged with the Academy for Educational Development in 2006.

documents with some also being available in Spanish, French

Association for
Health Information and Libraries in Africa (AHILA)

AHILA is a professional association with 46 country members
and many partners and collaborators worldwide. The AHILA web
site includes news and reports relevant to health information
in Africa, and the opportunity to join the AHILA email

Global Healthcare
Information Network (GHI-net) (Focus on
Low-Income Countries)
GHI-net is a non-governmental organisation that aims to
improve the availability and use of healthcare information in
developing countries, with a particular emphasis on the needs
of healthcare providers at household, primary and district
levels. It works as a facilitating body, promoting
multistakeholder communication, understanding (of information
needs and how to meet those needs) and effective action.

HIFA2015: Healthcare
Information For All Discussion Group (Focus on
Low-Income Countries)
HIFA2015 is a discussion group for those with an interest in
the creation, exchange and use of relevant, practical
healthcare information for families, primary health workers,
and district-level healthcare providers in developing and
transitional countries. It complements the CHILD2015
Discussion Group, which focuses on the information and
learning needs of those responsible for the healthcare of
children. HIFA2015 is open to anyone with an interest in
improving healthcare in developing countries and membership
is free. Individuals can join by sending an email to HIFA2015-admin@dgroups.org
with your name, organization, and a brief description of your
professional interests. HIFA2015 is managed by the Global
Healthcare Information Network on behalf of the HIFA2015

World Directory of
Medical Libraries (Focus on Low-Income
Countries)
This WHO Library and Information Networks for Knowledge
project will be a comprehensive listing of medical/health
libraries. It will serve as a source to facilitate the flow
of information between libraries and the coordination of
global efforts to improve access to health information.
Currently �under construction�, individual libraries can
